Voice dictation - Jump Around
Good morning 5th graders!
I want to propose you a voice dictation activity that you will enjoy very much. You are going to be able to read out loud the "Jump Around" text to your computer´s microphone while Google Docs voice dictation tool records and writes down what you are saying. It doesn´t matter if the voice dictation is not perfect. I want you to practice your pronunciation and reading skills. Please, once you are done reading the text, upload your document to your Google Drive.
Directions:
- First, click on the link to go the the Google Docs page.
- Go to "Herramientas" and "Escribir por voz".
- You will se a microphone symbol on the left:
- It is important that you check that the language on top of the symbol is English (US) or English (United Kingdom).
- Click the microphone symbol and it will change its color to red, and it will start recording and writing down the text you are reading. When you want it to stop recording, just click again on the microphone symbol.

Good afternoon Virginia! It is very interesting the activity you have suggested. I have never thought, but it is very easy to use and we don't need too much resources. I really think that kids will improve their pronunciation and their reading speed. If I have the chance, I will carry out it. Thanks for sharing it.

ReplyDeleteHi miss Virginia! Your blog is great, i really like the detail of the description below the blog title. The design is great, i love the picture of the pencils and the color. All of this is so important to encourage children to work on it. I also like the detail of the views, it can give you some info about the people who visit your blog. In addition, your blog is easy to navigate because the letter is easy to read it and the colours are accurate. Furthermore i have just fallen in love with this activity, i didn´t know anything about this choice of Google docs, it lets me think about more activities. It´s a great idea where pupils will have fun a lot, they love use different tools like a microphone. It´s a different format to work on pronunciation, i really love it! Good job!
